PostgreSQL Database Wizard
PostgreSQL Databases allow you to store a large amount of information in an easy to access manner. PostgreSQL databases are required by many web applications including some bulletin boards, content management systems, and others.
To use a database, you'll need to create it. Only PostgreSQL Users (different than mail, FTP or other users) that have privileges to access a database can read from or write to that database.
This wizard guides you through the setup of a PostgreSQL database, user accounts, and user privileges.
Set up a PostgreSQL Database
Login your cPanel > Databases and click PostgreSQL Database Wizard link:
To set up a database, perform the following steps:
In the New Database text box, enter a name for the database and click Create Database:
Note: The maximum length of a database name (the same is valid for database username also) is 63 characters including the database prefix and underscore character
At the top of every new screen a message will will be displayed to confirm the result from the previous action.
In the Username text box, enter a name for the user who you wish to allow to manage the database.
Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.
Click Password Generator to generate a strong password and write it down in a file.
Click Create User.
Review the User and Database names and click Submit to add the new user to the new database.
Note: When you use the PostgreSQL Database Wizard to add a user and a database, the system automatically grants the user access to the database. You do not need to use the Add User to Database feature in the PostgreSQL Databases interface (Home > Databases > PostgreSQL Databases).
The system displays a message that states that the system set up the database and user account successfully:
After you complete the database setup process, select one of the following options:
- Add another database - go back to Step 1: Create A Database.
- Add another PostgreSQL Databases User - go back to Step 2: Create Database Users
- Return to PostgreSQL Databases - go to Databases > PostgreSQL Databases screen
- Return to Home - go to cPanel Home interface.
We recommend that you use the PostgreSQL Database Wizard interface to create your first PostgreSQL database and user.
